how we met
OUR STORY

Kelleigh and Dan met in 2011 in New York City while both attending SAE (School of Audio Engineering). They were in a painfully slow elevator of the school’s building with a few other people.
“Man, it’s hot out today,” Dan said.
“Yeah right. I’m from Texas, this is nothing!” Kelleigh scoffed.
With that simple statement, Kelleigh had gained Dan’s intrigue.
One night after Dan graduated from the SAE program, he and Asher (also a former SAE student) were at Dan’s house in River Edge fixing up his home studio. After a while, they both started to get bored so Dan checked his Facebook and ran across Kelleigh’s profile.
Dan said to Asher, “Dude, this girl is gorgeous and she’s an audio engineer.”
“Yeah, she’s really cool, too. Just message her,” Asher replied.
After a little convincing from Asher, Dan got the courage to send Kelleigh a message.
After a little FB exchange, Dan found out that she happened to be in New Jersey; at a friend of a friend’s house in Morris County without a ride. It took both Asher and Dan practically begging to convince her to let them drive to pick her up.
Once they all got to Dan’s place (which was really his parents’ place), they all showed Kelleigh Dan’s basement studio, she learned that he played drums, and before they all knew it, it was 3 in the morning. Kelleigh and Asher had to crash there. Asher took the recliner, while Kelleigh took the couch. Long after Asher fell asleep, Dan and Kelleigh kept talking for several more hours while Total Recall played in the background.
Kelleigh and Dan saw each other as friends for about a month, before Dan made it clear that he had a crush…
How Dan proposed
Dan proposed at the Studios at Fischer during a tracking session on November 7th, 2015. Kelleigh had just recorded Dan playing drums and she was deep in work-mode. After listening to a take, he said he wanted to talk about microphone placement. Not an unusual request at all, so they walked into the live room to assess and talk. He pointed at one of the microphones (the C12A) and said he wanted to change it out for something else. Kelleigh nodded (curious since this was a great sounding mic) and asked which he’d rather use, but he ignored her question. He then asked her to hand him the box for it, which was sitting just three feet from them. She grabbed it and started to hand it to him. Then, he asked her to open it. Much to her surprise, it contained a ring…
Her face flushed, Kelleigh looked up to see Dan getting down on one knee.
“Oh fu- are you serious? Are you serious?! Oh my- what?!” Was Kelleigh's first reaction.
“I want to do this with you for the rest of my life. Marry me?” Asked Dan.
Still in shock, Kelleigh hugged him tightly as tears welled up in her eyes.
“Is uh… is that a ‘yes?’” Dan laughed nervously.
“What? Yes, yes of course!” Cried Kelleigh, who quickly ran out saying, “I have to make some calls now! I have to tell people!”

The Area

Attractions
Austin
Austin, Texas' state capital, is also known as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” One of the many entertainment districts, Sixth Street, is distinctly Austin. With its colorful and bustling array of bars, restaurants and entertainment venues, it’s a sure bet for experiencing local characters and the vibrancy of the city. Austin is also home to world-class museums, one-of-a-kind shopping and beautiful outdoor spaces. Keep Austin Weird! For more visit www.austintexas.org.

San Antonio
A city rich with colonial heritage. Remember the Alamo? You might know it's an 18th-century Spanish mission preserved as a museum and marks an infamous 1836 battle for Texas independence from Mexico. It's also one of five missions you can visit in San Antonio. Following the downtown San Antonio River, the miles-long River Walk is a landmark pedestrian promenade lined with cafes and shops. For more information go to visitsanantonio.com.

Fredericksburg
This town is prolific with the culture of German pioneers, who settled there over 160 years ago. You will discover this as you drive through Main Street, where they have more than 150 shops that include art, fashion, home décor, antiques, jewelry and a number of wonderful restaurants. The area is also abundant in wineries. You can visit one or two on your own or schedule an excursion for the day. To learn more visit www.visitfredericksburgtx.com.
New Braunfels
New Braunfels is home to the original renowned water park, Schlitterbahn, but also has several other attractions. Throughout downtown you will find shops and restaurants nestled in historic buildings and old houses. www.newbraunfels-tx.net.

Gruene
This place (pronounced ‘Green’) is really a historic district located just North of New Braunfels. Once a sleepy little town, it is now a premiere attraction for visitors. Stop by the famous dance hall, Gruene Hall, and have lunch at The Gristmill (I recommend the onion rings). The shops, restaurants and entertainment will give you a genuine taste of Texas. www.gruenetexas.com.
